Prof. Rupayan Bhattacharya has completed his PhD from Saha Insitute of Nuclear Physics. He has taught physics at different levels in different countries. He has retired as Principal from a reputed undergraduate college in Kolkata. Now he is an Emeritus Professor of Physics in the University of Calcutta. He has published more than 75 papers in reputed journals and International conference proceedings.

At present he is working on depletion of spin-orbit splitting of shell model states of dripline nuclei. At the same time he is interested in the effect of tensor interaction on formation of bubble nuclei. Exclusive optimization of tensor parameters have been chalked out. Furthermore, I have done some calculations on the effect of occupation probabilities of shell model states on bubble formation. The importance of the “waiting point” nucleus Zn80 on r-process is being explored in another project.

He finalized PhD at Faculty of Physics University of Bucharest with thesis “Studies to assess nuclear and radiological installation prior to decommissioning”. Today his main research is focused the real situation on the decommissioning field, analyzing of the radioactive waste, implementing of the simulated model and calculus in the operational radioprotection.

Albina Orlova, professor, doctor science, works in the field of new inorganic materials for applications in nuclear chemistry for radwaste immobilisation of dangerous isotopes, for actinide transmutation, also for construction materials for various technology )optic, medicine). She uses the structure properties and physico- chemical principles for elaboration of new ceramics with many various mineral-like crystal forms. She is a member of the editorial board of the journal Radiochemistry, member of Interdepartmental Council on Radiochemistry under the Presidium of the RAS and State Corporation ROSATOM, member of the IAEA group of consultants on elaboration of IAEA Handbook "Processing of High Level Waste and Spent Nuclear Fuel Declared as Waste". She have more than 300 publications: papers, presentations at conferences, patents.

Professor Dr. Albina ORLOVA heads a research group in the field of crystal matrix for radwaste immobilisation. These materials allow to isolate dangerous isotopes from biosphere and recently find new applications in optic and medicine.

Professor Hruby’s research has been primarily in the chemistry, conformation-biological activity relationships, molecular mechanisms of information transduction and of molecular diseases associated with peptide hormones and neurotransmitters and their receptors that modulate health, disease and human behavior. Specific methods and approaches used in this research include: de novo design of biologically active peptides and peptidomimetics; peptide and peptidomimetic synthesis; asymmetric synthesis; design and asymmetric synthesis of novel amino acids; computational chemistry; conformational analysis using NMR, X-ray crystallography and other biophysical tools; combinatorial chemistry; conformation-biological activity relationships; the design, synthesis and biological evaluation of peptide and peptide mimetic ligands that affect pain, addictions, feeding behaviors, pigmentation, sexual behavior and motivation, glucose homeostasis, cancer and other biological effects; peptide mimetic design; and the structure-function of G-protein coupled receptors. The Hruby group also is developing new synthetic methodologies for the assembly of multimeric ligands for the detection and treatment of pain, cancer and other diseases; a new approach to design of ligands for disease states involving the concept of overlapping pharmacophores to address several receptors simultaneously in a single molecular ligand. Professor Hruby has published over 1000 articles, reviews, chapters, commentaries and editorials and has over 25 patents and patent filings. Victor Hruby has received numerous awards and honors, including a Guggenheim Fellowship (1984), the Alan E. Pierce Award (now the Merrifield Award) (1993), a Senior Humboldt Fellowship (1999-2000), the American Chemical Society Ralph F. Hirschmann Award (2002), the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award (2009), the Murray Goodman Award (2011), the ACS Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame (2012) and the Meienhofer Award (2012).

Dr. Victor J. Hruby is a Regents Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Arizona. He received his PhD at Cornell University in Theoretical Organic Chemistry and did a Postdoctoral studies with Nobel Laureate Vincent du Vigneaud. He has been a professor at University of Arizona since 1968 where he has joint appointments in the Neuroscience Program, Medical Pharmacology, and Bio5 among others. Dr. Hruby’s research interests are in the chemistry, biophysics, molecular pharmacology, molecular biology of peptide hormones and neurotransmitters and their receptors, transduction systems and in the design, synthesis and bio evaluation of novel ligands for the treatment of degenerative diseases.

In the past 14 years Istvan J Enyedy has been involved in new target evaluation, hit finding, and hit-to-lead optimization projects for several types of target classes using both ligand and structure-based methods. He is coauthor on more than 30 publications and 9 patents/applications. He received his PhD in 1998 at Catholic University of America, Washington DC, and did postdoctoral training in Dr. Shaomeng Wang’s group at Georgetown University Medical Center, Washington DC. Between 2001 and 2008 he worked at Bayer Pharmaceuticals, West Haven CT and Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research in Cambridge MA. Since August 2008 he has been working at Biogen Idec, in Cambridge MA.

Concepción González-Bello has obtained her Ph.D. at the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC, Spain) in 1994. She did two predoctoral stays in the University of Gent (Belgium) with Prof. Vandewalle and in the Scripps Research Institute (USA) with Prof. Nicolaou. After three years of postdoctoral stay in the University of Cambridge (UK) with Prof. Chris Abell, she joined USC as an Assistant Professor, and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2003 and obtained the Spanish habilitation to full Professor in 2011. She is a member of the ChemMedChem International Advisory Board and has published about 50 papers in reputed journals.

Dr. Prabagaran Narayanasamy is a faculty member in the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Neurosciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. He received his PhD at IIT in Organic Chemistry and did his postdoctoral studies at North Dakota State University, Harvard University and University of Illinois Urbana-champaign. Later, he joined as a Research Scientist at Colorado State University to explore drug discovery. He has been a faculty at University of Nebraska Medical Center since 2012. Dr. Narayanasamy’s research interests are on development, delivering and discovering drug for anti-mycobacterial medicine and antiretroviral therapy. Conventional drugs and new inhibitors are used in nanoformulation to generate active nanomedicine. For antibacterial drug discovery - glyoxalase, quorum sensing, MEP and menaquinone pathway are utilized. Additionally, development of exosomes as drug delivering agent is initiated for infectious disease. In addition, metabolites are evaluated in the infected brain for characterizing neurodegenerative disorders.Biography

Andreia Valente completed her Ph.D. in 2010 from the Université de Lille I (France) on the field of Polymerization Catalysis. Then she joined the Organometallic Group at Faculty of Sciences,University of Lisbon (Portugal) where she got a first post-doc position in synthesis of organometallic compounds for nonlinear optic applications, followed by a second post-doc in the field of medicinal inorganic chemistry. Sheis presently a researcher (academic)at the same Institution, directing now her efforts to the synthesis of new polymer-metal complexes as targeteddrug-delivery systems in view to cancer therapy. To this ending, A. Valente counts with a multidisciplinary and enthusiastic team.

Then he worked on cancer therapy and cancer nanomedicine at Emory Winship Cancer Institute. Now, Debatosh is a scientist at Glycosyn LLC, a premier biopharmaceutical company. He has published many papers and book chapters, and has been serving as an editorial board member of the World Journal of Organic Chemistry, and reviewers of Frontiers in Bioscience, PLoS ONE, the World Journal of Organic Chemistry, and others.

Leonard Amaral, M.D., PhD, Emeritus Professor, Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Distinguished Invited Scientist Fellow of the Fundacao de Ciencias e Tecnologia de Portugal. Prof. Sham received his Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Southern California with Nobel Laureate AriehWarshel for developing consistent theoretical methods for evaluating electrostatic free energy in proteins and solutions. He received his post-doctoral training at the National Cancer Institute and at IBM in high performance computation and simulation of protein folding and stabilities problems. He serve as the scientific computational consultant at the University of Minnesota Supercomputing Institute from 2002 to 2007 prior to joining the Center for Drug Design at the University of Minnesota as the assistant director and assistant professor (2008 – present).

Prof. Sham is interested in developing consistent and accurate theoretical models to understand the fundamental force that governs the biomolecular recognition process. These models serves as the platforms for understanding binding selectivity and structure based drug design.

Pierre Falson got his PhD at the LYON University. He is a CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) Research Director, enzymologist and membrane proteins biochemist, co-leading the Drug resistance mechanism and modulation team in the BMSSI CNRS-UCBL1 Research Unit. PFhas published 54 publications, patented 6 inventions and licensed2 to CALIXAR, a startup which he co-founded. He was awarded in 1991 by the Maurice Nicloux prize from the French Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, in 2010 and 2011 by the “National competition of innovative start-ups” and by the Innovation and Transfer Technology prize from theCNRS.

The “Drug Resistance Mechanism and Modulation” group is studying the molecular and cellular mechanism of multidrug ABC (“ATP-binding cassette”) transporters which are responsible for cellular resistance to multiple chemotherapeutics.

Dr. Shijun Zhang is an Assistant Professor, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, VCU (2007 - Present) and also worked as Research Associate, Department of Medicinal Chemistry, University of Minnesota (2005 - 2007)

Alzheimer′s disease; MAPKs inhibitors and their application in cancer and neuro degeneration disease, rational drug design 1. One of our research interests focuses on the development of novel ligands as potential treatment agents for Alzheimer & primes disease (AD). Specifically, we use bivalent ligand stratety to develop multifunctional ligands they target beta-amyloid oligomers, the potential causative species of AD, oxidative stress, bimetals and cell membrane/lipid rafts. The research involves rational design, organic synthesis, in vitro and in vivo biological charaterization. 2. Deregulation of signalling pathways have been indicated to play important roles in the tumorigenity and drug resistance of human cancers, among which the Raf/MEK/ERK and the PI3K/Akt pathways have been well characterized.

Russell R. Chianelli is currently Director of the Materials Research and Technology Institute at the University of Texas at El Paso and Professor of Chemistry, Materials and Environmental Science and Engineering. After receiving his PhD, he joined the Corporate Research Laboratories of Exxon Research and Engineering Co in 1974. While at this laboratory he conducted research in both fundamental and applied areas of interest to the energy industry. He is recognized worldwide for his work in Transition Metal Sulfide environmental catalytic materials. This work resulted in over 130 publications and 60 issued United States patents. During this period he was active in the Materials Research Society (MRS), serving as vice president (1989), president (1990), past president (1991) and Counselor (1992-1994). In 1996 he joined the Chemistry Department at the University of Texas at El Paso as Chairman and Professor of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences. In 2001 he resigned as Chemistry Department Chairman to head the Materials Research and Technology Institute (MRTI) at UTEP. The MRTI is dedicated to research relevant to the US/Mexico border in Materials related to energy, environment and health.

Clifford Lipscomb is the Director of Economic Research at Greenfield Advisors, a Chartered Valuation Surveyor, and has more than 18 years of experience in economic analysis, statistical analysis, consulting, and teaching. He holds baccalaureate degrees in Economics and Sociology from Berry College as well as a PhD in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He serves as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Real Estate Literature. Dr. Lipscomb won the 2014 International Association of Assessing Officers’ Bernard L. Barnard Outstanding Technical Essay Award. He is currently a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Mileva Radonjic completed her PhD at Bristol University, and postdoc at Princeton. She is currently being evaluated for associate professor in Petroleum Engineering Department at LSU. Dr. Radonjic established Sustainable Energy and Environmental Research (SEER) laboratory, focused on development of materials and technologies for prevention of leaky wellbores, in conventional O&G production, carbon sequestration and hydraulic fracturing. She is currently working as one of the editors on a book titled as the keynote presented here, and published papers with her graduate students in several journals as well as presented at more than 60 conferences in the last 5years.

Bushra Al Duri won a Research Grant Award of £750k from the EPSRC in Supercritical Coal Fired Power Plants, in collaboration with Electrical Engineering at Warwick University, Tsinghua University and NCEPU in China. Industrial partners are E-On UK Ltd., Emerson UK Ltd. and Scottish Powers. She is the lead Investigator in Chemical Engineering at Birmingham. She has recently returned from an EPSRC-supported UK-China Energy Conference in Beijing, where she represented the Project. Bushra completed 16 PhD [programmes and has over 90 publications in Wastewater Treatment, Reactions & Biocatalysis, and Supercritical Fluids. She also has on-going collaborations with international institutions, including University of Tokyo. Her future plans include expanding of the research in Energy and Environment; focusing on combining existing processes with supercritical water technology as the next generation of processes for waste minimisation and energy production, which complies with the increasing concerns over carbon emission and hence global warming. Bushra was appointed as MEGS Deputy Director at the beginning of April 2011.

Prof Martyn Pemble (1955) joined the Tyndall National Institute in Cork in 2004 under an SFI Investigator Award entitled Novel Routes to the Production of Nanoscale Electronic and Photonic Materials via Chemical Self-Assembly and Templated Surface Engineering'. Prior to this he was Professor of Physical Chemistry and Associate Dean for Research in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and the Environment at the University of Salford in the UK. In November 2008 he was appointed to a Science Foundation Ireland funded post, that of Stokes Professor of Materials Chemistry. This position is a joint position, between the Tyndall National Institute and the Department of Chemistry at UCC. He has published over 270 papers and articles on topics ranging from electrochemical spectroscopic methods to fundamental surface science, through materials growth by metalorganic chemical vapour deposition (MOCVD), chemical vapour deposition (CVD) and atomic layer deposition (ALD), to optical spectroscopy and in-situ process monitoring, to novel photonic band gap materials based on synthetic opals and related systems. He is also the author of 2 patents in the CVD area. His h-index currently stands at 37.

Martyn Pemble's group studies the areas of advanced chemical vapour deposition (CVD) systems and atomic layer deposition (ALD) systems, including surface catalysed CVD, high-k dielectrics for advanced CMOS applications including III-V based MOSFETS, high performance capacitors and MIM-based devices, novel photochemically-activated water splitting devices, copper ALD and the ALD of copper diffusion barriers, the growth of novel oxides and doped oxides for smart window applications and other applications requiring transparent conducting materials such as solar cells and displays.
